JT Men’s Zoom Lessons

Continuing in Faith with JESUS in the New Year using the APTAT acronym which stands for; Admit, Pray, Trust, Act and Thank.

The message of the Bible teaches that humanity is born into sin and therefore, man naturally sins, which separates us from God. Because God hates sin, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, our sins were forgiven, and He now sits at the right hand of God interceding for believers. Before we can fully follow Jesus, we must first understand the depth of His unconditional love and infinite grace shown at the cross—a love so powerful that it calls for our complete devotion in return.

Over the next three weeks we will move through the first three of five steps of (APTAT), discussing one in each week to aid us in our understanding and further our relationship with Jesus and how to consistently follow him.

Jan 6th ADMIT/SUBMIT

John 15:5 (NLT) and James 2:19 (NKJV)

The purpose of this lesson is to discuss that we must ADMIT and SUBMIT that we are helpless to do anything of significance or spiritual worth in any way without Jesus.

To admit is to acknowledge that something is true—often because evidence, pressure, or circumstances require it.

Biblical Sense

•           Admission is intellectual rather than transformational

•           It may acknowledge wrongdoing without repentance

•           It often stops short of surrender or change

Submission is the principal thing.

James 2:19 (NKJV) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Jan 13th PRAY

John 16:24 “You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (NLT) James 1:5, Jeremiah 33:3, James 4:2, and Psalm 50:15.

The purpose of this lesson is to discuss that if we admit we can do nothing without God’s help, then we must individually ask for His help and direction through prayer. We can reference James 4:2 and Psalm 50:15, where, like hundreds of other places in the Bible, it stresses the power of prayer.

Jan 20th TRUST

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 41:10

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.’ (NLT)

The purpose of this lesson is to discuss the fact that, in reality, trust is at the heart of the matter. We must trust the promises of God in our lives and have absolute confidence in God. This is called faith. As we love God at a deeper, more profound level, we learn to trust Him more and develop faith that no matter what we face in our lives today and in the future, everything will work out as He has planned.
